“In 1989 the morning after the birth of my youngest child, I suffered a mild stroke. I was very lucky to have little ongoing visible issues from this. However, I noticed that when I was tired the left side of my face drooped and my lip had sort of rolled under on that side. I often bit it. My smile was a bit off kilter. Still, I felt lucky that that was all. As I got older, the sagging looked more and more obvious, and I began to wish I could do something about it. I felt it made me look tired and old. However, I wasn’t interested in a full on face lift as that seemed a bit of overkill. I visited Renew You for a skin care consultation. I spoke to the consultant about having my lip adjusted by using a filler and she asked Dr Lee for advice. I told him how unhappy I was about the drooping on the left side of my face and how I didn’t want to go the full facial.
Dr Lee took the time to explain that I had partial paralysis of the muscles on that side of my face and explained several options for helping me achieve a more balanced look. He also told me about threading, a wonderful, less intrusive form of face lift. And a lot less expensive. And I would be able to go back to work with virtually no visible sign of the work done. He felt that this would be the best choice for the results I wanted to achieve. After discussing it with my husband, I decided this was something I really wanted to do.
A week later, it was done. I was ecstatic at the result. Dr Lee also injected some restylane into my lips to even them out and a little into the cushiony part under my left eye which had atrophied away. The result was staggering. I was a little uncomfortable for a day or so, but the difference in my face far outweighed any of that. People kept saying how well I looked, had I cut my hair, what makeup I was using…. It was funny. No one had any idea. Now when I look in the mirror, I don’t feel uncomfortable about my droopy face or worry that I look tired when I am not.
Dr Lee assured me that the results will last some years before I might want some adjustment. I certainly will be looking at using this method to keep the old age droop out of my face and will continue to use a filler to top up what nature drops out, Ha! I was so happy that I had the good fortune to meet Dr Lee. I have never looked back.” |
