|
| What is Intense Pulse Light (IPL)? |
|
Photo Rejuvenation using IPL is a non-invasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skin’ surface, therefore, no “down time”. IPL can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots (sun induced freckles) and mottled pigmentation. The principle behind IPL is the selective photothermolysis. The wave lengths recognize the chromophores (e.g. melanin, water, haemaglobin) within the skin and due to the absorption of the wavelengths by the chromphore a selective and thermal effect is obtained.
The concept of photothermolysis consists in the delivery of a precise dosage of intense thermal energy. The basic principles involved require that the light delivered be a colour (wavelength). The target (chromophore) can optimally absorb the duration of the light; enable the entire target to be heated to a proper level without damage to, or wasting of energy on, the surrounding tissue that needs to be preserved. |

| How is Photo Rejuvenation performed? |
|
The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied
You may feel a slight sting - like snapping of a small rubber band and a sense of warmth
Treatments are generally administered in a series of 4 - 6 sessions for excellent long term results
Each treatment is approximately 15 minutes duration |
