| How is liposuction surgery performed? |
|
Liposuction is the removal/reduction of fat from specific areas of the body. The fat that is removed is always subcutaneous fat i.e. the fat layer between skin and muscle. Liposuction cannot remove fat from the body that lies with muscle or any deeper than the muscle.
The procedure involves small incisions at the sites to be treated after the skin has been numbed with local anaesthesia. The areas to be treated are filled with a solution of normal saline local anaesthetic and adrenaline to reduce bleeding. Once the area to be treated is numb the actual suction assisted removal of fat is performed. |
